A Different Model - Built For YOU

WE’RE HERE FOR YOU! not insurance companies

Transparency and trust are imperative to our process so let’s talk insurance and rates up front. Suarez Physical Therapy is an out of network provider. In other words, we do not accept insurance. Why? To better serve YOU!

By practicing out of network we are not beholden to insurance companies and what they will or will not cover, or limited by their high costs and low reimbursement rates. Instead, we are able to provide the highest level of one-on-one care based solely on your unique issues and our expertise.
We believe this is a better way to deliver the best possible care while also saving you time and potentially money.

One-on-One Physical Therapy

Being out of network allows your physical therapist to work with you one-on-one each visit for a full hour. This type of treatment allows us to produce a truly individualized plan specific to your needs and provide the proper amount of attention to your issues. We are able to not only address your specific movement limitations, but to work with you on your movement, mobility and strength so that you will be stronger and more durable when you leave us. Importantly, you’ll also better understand and become more confident in your own movements, and take those tools with you when you leave.

For acute injuries, many insurance companies will cut off benefits before you are ready to return to sport or your daily activities. We are not hampered by these limitations. Your care does not end with hitting a baseline metric that does not take into consideration your goals, sport or level of desired activity, but once you’re back to the level of strength, mobility and agility to attain your desired level of performance with a decreased risk of re-injury.

Cost Benefits

While your first reaction may be that our method will cost you more money out-of-pocket, you will see in our example below that our system may actually save you money while saving you time and providing you with effective treatment and the knowledge and confidence to maintain your active lifestyle.

We’re not here to knock physical therapists operating in in-network clinics. There are many good physical therapists out there, but their hands may be tied by operating in an in-network practice, as shown in the example below. We offer a different way!

Conventional Physical Therapy.

In general, therapists at clinics that accept insurance rates are required to see 3–4 patients per hour and usually spend an average of 15-20 minutes of one-on-one time with each patient while aides and technicians instruct patients in exercises or take them through “Exercise Flow Sheets”.

An average patient is asked to see a physical therapist 2-3 times per week. During those visits, you work with an actual physical therapist for 15-20 minutes each session—a total of 30-60 minutes. If your co-pay is $45 per visit, you’re paying $90 - $135 for an average of 45 minutes of time with a therapist, not to mention traveling to the clinic 2-3 times per week and potentially spending an hour there each time.

A typical patient is then asked to see a physical therapist for a period of 6–8 weeks (18–24 visits). That means your $45 co-pay will cost you between $810–$1080 and 3 times the amount of total time that you’d spend in our clinic! That's not to mention if you have a higher co-pay or have to meet a high deductible first (making the cost benefit of coming to Suarez Physical Therapy even higher)!

Suarez Physical Therapy.

Because we are not beholden to insurance companies, our physical therapists are able to work 1-on-1 with clients for their entire hour long session. During the session, they have time to discuss, assess and treat (hands on and through guided exercises). They are also able to provide tailored at home exercise programs.

Given the continuous extra time and attention with a therapist in a single session, the same patient from the Conventional Therapy Way will typically only come in for one session per week at Suarez Physical Therapy. They will spend the full session with a physical therapist at a cost of $199 (see below regarding discounted packs) and will only have to account for a session and travel time once per week, causing less disruption to their week.

That same patient will typically only require one session per week for about 4-6 weeks (4-6 visits) (some may need - or want - more). That means the total cost to you for 4-6 sessions is around $800-$1050, not to mention the time you will be saving. There are also options to purchase discounted packs 6 sessions (average $185/visit) or 10 sessions (average of $175/visit) ahead of time or at your first visit.

Patients can also still submit to insurance on their own (or we can assist for an additional cost of $50), and some insurance companies will still cover a portion of your payment and reimburse you directly, lowering your costs even further.

FAQs

  • For your benefit, we are a cash-based practice that does not accept insurance. However, you can submit to your insurance provider to see if they will cover a portion of your services and reimburse you directly, and many often do. Upon request, we can provide invoices and notes for you to submit to your insurance company.

For most insurance companies, you can find a claim form on their website. Simply print it out and submit it along with your invoices and treatment codes that we provide for you. The amount you are reimbursed is dependent on your “Out-Of-Network Physical Therapy” expense benefits.

Dealing with insurance companies can be a pain. We can also assist you with the process of checking your benefits for an additional fee of $50.

  • We do accept HSAs and FSAs! Let your therapist know that you would like to use your HSA / FSA and we can help you with this process.

  • You do NOT need a prescription or referral from a doctor to come in and see us. If you will be seeing us on a continuing basis, under New York law, a script is required after 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. Because of our model, we will typically hit 30 days before 10 visits. Your therapist will track the time and can discuss this with you. We can also suggest providers if you do not have one.

While it is difficult to estimate your total costs prior to seeing you, if you request an estimate prior to or at your initial evaluation, we will provide one to you. This will include much of what is already provided here in our Rates / FAQ section (i.e., a rate of $195 per 1-hour visit, estimated number of visits (subject to change based on your unique issues and a more thorough assessment) and the cost of our discount packages).
